Poncho: So cats are closer to fish, and dogs are closer to people? Chazz: I… guess… Poncho: I have my answer! Chazz: Well, wait, there's more to it than--

Hah, my boss went through successive versions of automatic pet feeders for his cats. I think he was up to Mastiff sized feeders before he found one the cat couldn’t trick, destroy, or climb inside.Unfortunately before he found this out he had left the cat alone with the first feeder for a 3 day weekend. There was a very hungry cat waiting for him on Sunday evening. I suspect he was only a waffer theen meent away from having an exploded cat on Friday afternoon.

That depends on the cat. Mine has food out all the time and hovers between 5 and 7 pounds.

My cats are grazers. The dry food lasts a week. However thwy also gat canned food twice a day & the litter boxes cleaned every day. We’re lucky that our nextdoor neighbor also has cats, so we each take care of the others when we go away. Still it’s a lot easier to clean a litter box (& it can be skipped for a day or two if necessary) than walk a dog.
