No, the guy in front is correct, because the guy in back is the one at fault and would be liable for damages.

Love your calm and peaceful posts,addressing us as neighbors. Your point is well taken.However, the likely follow-up here would be for the guy with the license to practice law to take the out-of court settlement, and then sue.

And seeing as how around 80% of the politicians are lawyers, guess who the laws favor.

Maybe the reason we have courts is that all the comments so far seem to indicate a belief that the gentleman in the rear is at fault. It seems to have not occurred to anyone that the gentleman in the front was backing up, making him at fault.

I have always been under the assumption that a license to practice law was a license to steal.Insurance companies are not in business to lose money, so they hire the best lawyers to protect their interests and fight insurance claims.It takes a thief… but who’s the bigger thief ?

I think it couls be a commentary on the idea that a lawyer can redefine words like “is” and “tax” and actually get people to vote him into public office!

bgby…don’t be surprised. We’re adults here, we’ve addressed this issue. It arises from our desire to be a nation of LAWS…instead of men…and I for one am glad of it.

@Wiley: enough already! Too many lawyer jokes lately, clearly pandering to the mass media mindset. I’ll bet you are quick to turn to a lawyer when feeling infringed on! What? Had a bad experience lately? I suggest you get a lawyer!

I’m a first year law student and have laughed out loud at the couple of strips in the past week about attorneys. Thanks.

You want to make people go to court? I’d rather not clog up the judicial system with even more cases and drive up the cost of suits. I would think settlements are overall cheaper and save headaches.

And that is why I’m getting a license to practice law before I start to drive!
