So, you’re saying that John and Michael are the innocent victims of sexism? It’s more like the men in the Patterson family need to be reminded about what it means to be a gentleman than the women need to be reminded about what it means to be a lady.

Laws have changed in Canada since this strip first ran. Spanking is now illegal and the kids will be trust into protective services where they’ll be shuttled from foster home to foster home. The kids will grow up in horrible environments and turn out to be abusers and criminals. Elly’s spirit will be totally broken.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. It’s a cartoon. Lizzie does her share of teasing too. Older siblings often get the rap for things. Boys or girls.

Michael’s just typical of all big brothers.

What Michael said to Lizzie regarding their mother sending her away “forever” seems extremely mean for what little bit of damage she did to his things. Looks like he’s already beginning to display signs of becoming a bully to a “weaker” female member of that family in the name of “teasing” (only with Lizzie, it’s much worse because she’s just 3 years old and doesn’t know how to defend herself yet from such hurtful words — even though they aren’t true). Gee . . . I wonder where he got that from?!?!?
