Awwww…always did love Davy Crockett! Even bought my kids a coonskin cap when they were kiddoes. I bet none of them even remember. RIP all those who fought to the end at the Alamo so long ago.
Hoorah for the Texans! Scavenging the battlefield while the corpses are still warm is not my idea of fun, however. Still, it’s an honored souvenir, Lio!
Yoo bad he did not take back some machines guns. I know that Cybil has a few extra laying around. Crockett and Bowie could have made good use of a few M-60s
I left my palomino and my ammo at the Alamo……..Personally, I was always a much bigger fan of Daniel Boone than of Davey Crockett. I’ve really been enjoying the “Daniel Boone” old reruns on TV lately since I never got a chance to see them as a kid.
My brother and I recieved "coonskin"caps for Christmas(‘56 or’57) First time we got them wet in the rain into the trash they went.smelled like wet/dirty dog!!
The rebels at the Alamo were not Americans. they were Texicans and staged the revolt because Mexico was going to end slavery, a situation they (the Texicans) found intolerable.
Worldwide they still shoot the little kids that scavenge fresh battlefields. Usually it has to be done at night to pick up anything your family can sell later.
Lio and Mr. Tatulli should be ashamed. This is not a place to be a comic strip for. My damned stroke – I can’t go any more. Please listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL62m5umP4g&NR=1
I used to like this strip, but it has lost its appeal. I only read it on Sundays now, mainly because the coloring is always done verry well.. Today’s strip is lousy and disrespectful of the people who fought at the Alamo.

What about Jim Bowie ‘s knife, or Col. William Travis’s sward? He could have got those as well.

That’s what I’d do, loot antiquities and collectables for profit.

Awesome depiction, Mark! You managed to show the sheer desperation of the Texans and the odds they faced.

If this was March 6th the comic would have more impact.

That land really belonged to the indigenous peoples – long before the Europeans “discovered” it.

As a native Texan, this just made me wince. Seems just like something our two recent governors would have absconded with if they had the chance.

Reminds me of the Far Side cartoon, where General Santa Ana gives his kid a genuine Davy Crockett hat for Christmas!
