Iāve always invented new games like that! Traditions, too. It canāt become a tradition unless you start it! And the cool thing is all you have to say is say something like āUm, Iāve just invented a new traditionā¦ā Hey, if it works it works, if not so what?
One reason the Caulfield character āworksā is that heās capable of both kinds of behavior and you never know whatās coming. The obnoxiosity acts as a foil for strips like todayās, for instance.
As to crop circles making a major impact on a fieldās crop ā not that I condone them, but ācmon! A typical non-prairie field has all sorts of ups downs that lead to spots of poor productivity. Assuming the circle isnāt the size of the whole thing, that is.
Itās amazing how many ways a kid can make up things to do! I could too but much of my inner child is getting too old unless Iām drawing or painting!

Seems to me that people who deliberately messed up a farmerās crops should have to work for the farmer for a while, helping harvest, etc.

Well, of course it depends on the crop. If you are growing soylent green, then the crop circles are people.
