Then she said, how the bleep was I supposed to know it was a bleep barn?! Do all comedians swear these days? Everyone knows the cursing comes at the funny part, mom. It's like orchestra music. You hear da dum... dumm! And you know to clap.
With the new system on any given stage – the sound tech point the mike at the audience so you can hear the laughter and the second mike somewhere around the lower dorsal end of the speaker so even if there is min. noise – you still can not hear the punch line. Sound system have gotten worse with the new flat screen TV and the addition of background “music” has killed the conversation in many potential new shows.
Tim Hawkins, Leland Klassen, they don’t have to swear. The only people who have to swear in their acts, are those who aren’t funny otherwise. It’s like music – you didn’t NEED to swear in music to sell it, until Matterson tried selling his crap rap.
Laurel & HardyJackie GleasonRed SkeltonThe Three StoogesMr Bean and The Buckets……..none needed or need profanity to be funny..Way, way, way back when I was in grade school. I heard or read from somewhere… that the use of profanity on a regular basis for common everyday communication & conversations was a sign of the uneducated. (I dressed that up a little). .So the need to punctuate every sentence with some form of profanity is unnecessary. The occasional word…….as Doctor Toon said…. can make a point.

As both a connoisseur of comedy and classical music, it burns my ears and heart to hear that kid’s opinion on comedy and culture.
