Mom, My friend Doctor Appleby is going to visit the hospital, ok? He wants to be a doctor when he grows up? Hes a doctor now. This is all about padding the resume. Finally somebody who knows what she's doing! come on Marcy...level with me. are these young doctors clueless or what?! the ew crop of residents has just arrived.... It takes time to learn our way of doing things. I wouldn't geo so far as to call them "clueless" Hi, Doctor Appleby!

My counsin in TX dealt with a young ER doctor with her mom, read him the riot act when he misdigonsed her mother, when she got done with him including telling him should not be a doctor. The young intern was removed from her mom’s case, and yes the whole medical staff heard her yelling.

Way back, when I I was a student at a teaching hospital – had to explain to the new crop of interns – there is a reason for the L & R on the x-ray. You need to know which foot/hand is which. The intern also had wanted to know why if both ankles were on one xray (a requirement for children), why we didn’t label both ankles. Apparently he couldn’t figure out that if one was labeled Left that the other would be the Right ankle?

Once I was sent to a hospital and put in reverse isolation because a drug reaction had zapped my white cells. During the workup, a young doctor examined me and wasn’t wearing a mask like everyone else (I wasn’t supposed to be exposed to infection). I asked him why not. Later I was cowed by one of the battle-hardened nurses and explained to my main Dr. that I was afraid to deal with her. He said, “Why? You didn’t have any problem dealing with {the young doctor)!”

They also dress differently now. Back in the mid 90’s I had a procedure. I was in a lot of pain and called for a nurse. This lady showed up wearing a very colorful smock and began taking care of me. I asked if a nurse was coming. She said she was the nurse. I was very embarrassed.

ugh, nothing worse than premeds who haven’t had the slightest taste of the real world but tell everyone they’re “already doctors.” Worst part is, when it’s a guy, everyone just assumes he’s a doctor as well before he’s ever learned anything, doesn’t help the ego.

I see that Doctor Appleby has ditched his glasses. Looks better without them.
