Maybe Caulfield will grow up to be a songwriter, too. A short attention span seems to be a prerequisite for a creative mind!

Odd coincidence of this strip with Reality Check. Is there a hidden connection?

Perhaps. As one astute observer of humanity noted once, you make something (e.g full-time employment) more expensive and people will tend to want to buy less of it.

Ah, yes, our glorious information-age technological civilization now allows, encourages, even demands that we constantly flit from one interest to another. Meanwhile (and I speak from experience here, having helped to create that technology), creating, evolving and maintaining that technological civilization requires the ability to focus intensely on a single subject for an extended period. Anybody see a slight disconnect here?.The next fifty years or so are gonna be very interesting indeed.

I’ve been in my industry 30 years. I have done multiple things as my career has grown. Those who preceded me did the same thing. This is not new to professions. One starts at an entry level, finds the skills and interests that are mutually beneficial and pursues them.
