No, it’s a peer pressure thing. One-on-one, boys and girls tend to get along well and accommodate each other. It’s only within the group mentality that they learn they’re not supposed to like each other, and “go with the flow” in order to achieve acceptance within their group. It’s an attitude that tends to change dramatically with the onset of puberty, and could be an inborn defense mechanism against premature experimentation. (I liked girls too. Still do,)

I never knew a boy that acts like ‘Calvin’. We all got along in my school although maybe we weren’t the ‘norm’.

Me too! Once I wrote a diary and I wrote something not so good about my mother. I blocked it. One day I came home from school and she had opened it, don’t ask me, what she did!!!

…as a committed tomboy (no, not that kind of committed) (yet) I always hung around with the guys, and was pretty much treated as one – i was the only girl invited to one of the guys birthday parties (we played road hockey)…i do remember one of the nun’s coming out at recess, grabbing me by the arm, dragging me across the playground and depositing me with the girls who were SKIPPING ROPE (the horror!) – as soon as she left I was back playing football…apparently, i didn’t have cooties…

I treat people of the opposite gender like people too, so I don’t think it’s strange. : )

Puh-lease, like any respectable girl would send a letter to the likes of him.

@ Night-Gaunt49 – I’m with you. I never went through the “don’t like girls” phase either. I’ve been absolutely fascinated with the opposite sex since I first discovered the difference. The peer pressure thing is interesting, I’ve always been something of loner so perhaps I wasn’t affected by that.
