I’ve always thought those things were “megacones”. The last thing I need is a dog with an amplified bark.

Did you ever get to watch reruns of the old tv show “Get Smart”? Smart was a secret agent and he always insisted on using the cone of silence when discussing top secret plans with “the Chief”. It never worked. The echos were so loud inside they could never hear each other. People outside of the cone of silence, however, could hear what they were saying.
