Frazz by Jef Mallett for September 16, 2012
Transcript:
Frazz: See you, Sweatheart! Did you grab an appropriate t-shirt? Miss Plainwell: Flying Pig Marathon! Boy: Why does Miss Plainwell need a special shirt to donate blood? Frazz: So the nurses know she's a runner. Otherwise they get a little too interested in her lower heart rate. And her lower blood pressure. Boy: Like I guess my dad is a little too interested in her lower legs. Frazz: That's another side effect.

What? The kidâs dad is hot on Ms. Plainwellâs lower legs? KinkyâŠ.

Flying Pig? They were in beautiful Cincinnati, Oh. for our annual marathon in May every year. Also, wearing the shirt helps the nurses have an easier time avoiding sleeves. Thanks Jef!

Meh. Marathoners are too skinny. Now if she was a sprinter!

I cannot quote it perfectly, but Redd Foxx said something along the lines of âall these health nuts are gonna feel stupid in old age when they find themselves dyinâ of nothing!â

Well, they shouldnât have changed the ânormalâ parameters because of the increase in numbers of unfit, unhealthy people!

Reminds me of Dave Barryâs book on fitness and nutrition, Stay Fit and Healthy until Youâre Dead.

I donât quite understand why everyone wants to live longer when most probably wonât have the money to do so. So, my motto is: âLive longer and reside in a cardboard boxâ!

It IS true that folks w/ low bp & pulse get hassled. Iâve had to âwait to see the doctorâ many times because they thought I was unhealthy.

@Bigpuma: Iâm sorry, but your snarky take is a measure of you, not this strip. I can always trust Frazz to leave me with a laugh and a smile and sometimes I even get to learn something newâlike in todayâs strip.

Ok, thatâs genuinely helped me understand where youâre coming from. Personally I have to disagree, because Frazzâs humorous comments come in a context of being the most helpful, outgoing optimist in the strip â he earns his right to his humour â and he also helps us to laugh at ourselves. From my perspective (and I acknowledge yours is just as valid) I interpret it that Jef is incredibly aware of what heâs doing here. I guess the only thing left that I donât understand is, why would you spend time coming back, and reading, and commenting on something you find so objectionable? What is your intent in doing so?
dv-chris over 12 years ago
And thanks again. A detailed response. So now when our paths cross and I respond with righteous indignation to your inflammatory comments, we can both share a chuckle (at the expense of other people less intelligent than us, of course). Wait. What?

Frazz seems to be well aware Miss Plainwell catches a lot of admirers.
