Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for December 19, 2009
Transcript:
Lucy: How's your new ploy to avoid reality and get the world to bend to your will going? Danae: Oh... OK, I guess... wait... how'd you now that's what I've been doing all week? Lucy: Why should this week be any different? Danae: I'll take that as a compliment to my culture's consistency in pursuit of perfection.

Isn’t that what we all try to do?
Especially those of us who prefer comics to life.

I hate to use the line from Home Improvement, buuuuut, I don’t think so, Danae

This shows what happens when a knee-jerk P.C. liberal tries to raise a child by being the child’s best friend instead of a parent. I can’t help but think what Danae’s father’s drinking buddy at the bar would have done with her by now (I believe that she would have a very black-and-blue backside). Thank God that this is just a cartoon.

being a little judgemental this morning, rushman3x? take what ever you take to get your out of your butt…. and enjoy the cartoon without assaulting the child.

Folks I’m gonna let Wiley sleep in this morning and try to avert the daily sniping over the strip. It’s a CARTOON! I’m a lefty (a Canadian one at that) & my dad is very conservative. And while we don’t always agree on the non Danae & her family strips we both LUV these strips. Why? Because they’re funny! Please, can’t you just enjoy the FUNNY pages (for those of us who often still read them in the newspapers call them that) instead of finding something to prompt an agenda with.
(And before someone posts that it’s easy for me to ask for calm on a page that’s assumed to be aimed @ lefties I will say that I regularly read “Prickly City”. While I didn’t always agree with the position put forth in the “message” I still laughed when the strips were funny and they quite often were)

Love their expressions in the third panel, and bigbaldjohn is right, it’s a comic, it’s intended to be funny, so laugh and move on to the next one!

Rushman- typical right winger. if the kid doesn’t act exactly the way you want, BEAT ON THEM!!
It’s a COMIC STRIP. lighten up. the righties have already done enough damage to the world without poisoning this site. RELAX IT’s A COMIC

I’m sure glad my cats can’t talk, they wouldn’t be nearly as polite about pointing out my flaws or fits of denile.

I hope Danae’s dad is not a caricature of leftie fathers, because he is a major pushover. And that girl should have been slapped yesterday for calling her dad a pushover. Just a comic my foot…Why do we read these things? Because in a distorted way they paint a picture of REALITY.

I am to the right of Attila the Hun, and my oldest daughter at times was just like Danae. She’s to the left of Pelosi. How did that happen?
I think Danae is hilarious … sometimes I forward Danae strips to my daughter.
I rarely receive a comment, though.

Rushman,
Joe’s drinking partner is his scum-sucking lawyer brother (who’s name escapes right now (Bob, maybe)). He’s so wrapped up in himself he wouldn’t have time to do anything with or to Danae, he’d leave it to the Nanny. He & Joe are polar oppisites. I gotta wonder how their mom Flo raised them? Maybe she was too busy running a business & being a single mom, so the boys just turned out like they did.
Anyway, Danae & Kate are the female child equivelents of Joe & his brother. Kate seems to have a pretty good grasp on reality, but I don’t think she’ll turn out as nasty as Joe’s brother.

Does Lucy have a litter box? I’d like to see some Kate stories…the trials and tribulations of a good little girl…..

scary, in the last frame Danae is starting to sound like Gush Limpaw.

Yes, it is a comic strip and a comment or satire of things in life. When we lose the ability to laugh at ourselves our flaws and triumphs we might just as well give it all up. I worry about people that always wrap up things that they find unpleasant by “beating the child” what good did that ever do anyone? It is truly one of the things wrong with thinking you can control what you don’t like by ‘beating the child’ and all will be right with the world. Maybe you (Rushboy) need a beating but most of us just might take a pass on that.

The judgmental militarily trained are really scary.

here we go again…distorted reality? turn around, look the other direction. it’s eacape from reality. that’s why so many of us keep coming back to see what Wiley’s got up his sleeve. may your days be long, your memory short, and your imagination go on forever. excuse me, i need to go drink to that.
yyyguy about 15 years ago
let me join you in that drink.

Ah yes, the pursuit of perfection, as in political purism, religious fundamentalism, racial purity … all forms of perfection being subjective, stagnant, and unattainable.
