I hope they’re moving into my old neighborhood, they’ll fit right in! Now we live in a nice house but we look out of place because we don’t water our lawn every(other) day like everyone else. We feel it’s wasteful. The grass will get watered when it rains. If not we’ll water it enough so it doesn’t get too brown. ;)
something I’ve always found interesting about this (one of my very faves) strip – altho Ruthie’s family appears at least middle-class, seems educated, house well-kept etc, there’s an abundance of white trash in the neighborhood.
Cold. There are a lot of reasons why a person lets a yard go—not enough time (working, caring for family), not enough money to hire someone, physical disability.

Ugh, there’s always at least one house that looks terrible. The one in our neighborhood keeps trying to get on the board, but no one votes him in.
