@Rich, not only that, but that $1/hr goes up steadily as the experience and skill of the workers grows. After 10 – 20 years, the original customers can’t afford them anymore (like India), and move on to another “3rd world” country.
Kids like to come play in my front yard (more so when there was a bird out there with me) but we were only outside in cool weather (that is S side of my house so it’s lovely on a winter day in Phoenix).
They only play (or sometimes “help”) to amuse themselves and their “pay” is whatever treat I’ve recently baked (or my oranges in season). They always great me by name and do drawings for my refrigerator gallery.
It’s nice to be the unofficial “grandma” of the neighborhood.
