Goodbye to a marvelous comic written by a man who will be sorely missed…

Fare thee well, “Cul de Sac.” I’m sure they’ll add the reruns like they do with “Peanuts” and “Calvin and Hobbes.”

Thank you, Mark, for this tribute. Many of us who are fans of Lio also enjoyed Cul de Sac and will miss its gentle, wise take on the Otterloop family. (Thank goodness reruns from day one start tomorrow!)

You know when you made an impact when you are referenced in many comics. Cul De Sac you will be remembered

I know I’m in the minority but I HATED Cul De Sac! None of the characters were likeable. But I’ve been waiting years to see Andy Capp and Hagar the Horrible as drinking buddies, so this one made me happy for that.

Lio will miss Alice Otterloop and so will I.

Just because the strip was not to his/her taste does not make him/her a troll.

Bless you Mark, beautiful farewell. Brave Alice marches on forever in our hearts…..;(

I am not usually a Lio reader. However, after hearing about the tribute to Richard Thompson, I had to come see it. Now I have added it to my comics list. Mr. Tatulli, this was an amazing tribute. I am going to miss the Otterloops so much. Thank you for this…

Agreed. If GodAwfulfreydaniel wanted to express his amusement at seeing Hagar and Beetle, et al having a party, that would have been fine. And should have been all he shared with us. The rest of his comments were disrespectful if not hateful.

Wonderful tribute Mark

Let’s be clear what I was doing: I was expressing my opinion of a comic strip that I did not like (as is my God-given right to do, of course). I was NOT attacking the creator of it. And of course I feel bad that his health problems were what caused him to give the strip up. I don’t wish health problems on anybody. Nor do I get into fights nor insult people. “Lio” is one of my favorite strips although I rarely comment on it. I don’t read “Cul de Sac” so of course I wouldn’t be commenting on it there. And needless to say I’m not a “hater” either. I wish I’d just mentioned Andy and Hagar and left out the rest.
