Oh, because it went so well last year, right, Gene?

Is this one of those “White Man’s Holiday” rants coming up? Because it’s hard to argue against turkey, pie, and football Miles. (Or the kid has something against Miles Standish)

Let the kid have his say. Then ignore him.

I’m glad Gene took the time to carefully consider Miles’ argument.

Now why does he want to boycott Thankgsgiving?

I’m assuming that Miles has learned about the true history of the holiday.

This better not be a vegan or race thing!

He’s been buying into Greta’s nonsense again, hasn’t he?

Love the parents’ reaction – “And it’s only Monday!”

WHY does he want to boycott the day ?

If your parents go along with you and boycott the holiday, will you be Thankful?!

Miles?…

Don’t forget to give yourself a present this year and boycott Christmas, as well!!

Boycott being thankful? Boycott gratitude? Does not sound like a positive idea.

We need to focus on it being a day of gratitude instead of some ridiculous hagiography of the colonists. We also need to recognize that their arrival furthered the native peoples’ genocide started by Columbus and other European ‘explorers’ on the two continents.

Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be Pilgrim Remembrance Day; it can simply be a day for giving thanks. You don’t even have to include turkey, pumpkin pie, or football if you don’t want to.

Pilgrims are whatever. Turkey, football, and family is all you need on thanksgiving.

Fact is that the Pilgrims were not part of the “genocide”. The pilgrims made and kept treaties with the natives. Later colonists came over and were told by one tribe that another tribe was going to attack them because of some malicious gossip by a member of that tribe (one member of a tribe told the tribe that these new colonist killed a member of the tribe without evidence). This gossip resulted in a war that the new colonists won. And this started a cycle of wars in New England between the natives and the colonists.

And new gossip now blames the pilgrims for a war they did not take part in.

Being grateful is an art.

It’s against the law to boycott Holidays! Didn’t he know that? LOL

Holidays are always stressful, more so when all of your loved ones have passed away. Enjoy it while you can Miles for there may come a day when all you have left are memories of those no longer with you. (Sorry for the bummer attitude). Should be interesting to see where Tauhid takes this (and please, if it is an extended arc that you find “boring”, go volunteer at a soup kitchen or visit a nursing home on the holidays to gain a new appreciation of your family.)

So far, not a lot of thankfulness here.
