I think your mom would like that, Miles. And your dad? Probably in Turkey heaven while watching the Grinch or A Charlie Brown Christmas(for the tenth time today).
In my foster home, Thanksgiving was less about the pilgrims and more about what we are thankful for that particular year. I think that’s the thing about Thanksgiving: it could be about so much more than its bloody origins. Hell, it might even inspire good in folks like it did with my foster family!
No, no, no! Don’t encourage him, woman! He’ll think that boycotting will help him get his way and force his beliefs onto others! Thanksgiving will just be the first! Christmas may be next in his cross-hairs! Or even Easter! Or Independence Day!! You need to be a mom and end this nonsense right now!
The British don’t celebrate “Thanksgiving” with its Pilgrim associations. Instead they have Harvest Sunday, a thanksgiving for crops and food generally. I would bet native Americans would appreciate this more!
There used to be many area or state Days of Thanksgiving. When Lincoln proclaimed the national one, he didn’t say anything about it being Pilgrim Remembrance Day.
Problem is a boycott is suppose to hurt someone by them losing business. In the 60s it was the grape boycott organized by the farmworkers so the growers would lose sales. Another boycott was of Coors beer to protest Coor’s racist hiring practices. Today it is Bud Light/Disney to protest their support of the LGBT community. So who was his boycott suppose to punish?

Nobody should boycott leftovers! Leftovers is when you can enjoy the food without the hassle.

Non-specific family meal. Like, what we have every day, but only more so.

You really only have to remove the Pilgrim references and you have a (lateish) Harvest Festival.

It’s important not to let the perfect be the enemy of the good in ideological matters.
