They can come romp in my yard as long as they rake up all the leaves.

Try frolicking. You can frolic anywhere.

And when you get a little older dad will send you out to rake the leaves instead.

Three people and a tiny pile – there isn’t enough Romper Room

I’ve never seen Dill in this hat. It is very cute, but can’t compare to his whirligig hat. Alice even does romping in an angry manner; maybe a manhole cover dance will cheer her up. Petey is relieved to be spared any physical activity.

Of all the 5000 stupid things I did when I was a kid — that’s ONE I NEVER did — possibly because I had seen some of the undesirable things which wound up in the leaf piles ( dog crap, e.g.)

I love Alice’s expression when she says: “I’m romping in the leaf pile!”

Angry romping is now a thing!

Dill saves the day! His comment in the last panel makes up for Alice’s grouchy disgust as well as for Petey’s indifference….
