Too soon?

She sure can’t take a joke.

Tony… if you mean “too soon to be facetious to the kid” …never.

Start when they’re in diapers.

If you mean … hmmm….. I’m not sure what else could have been thought to be too soon.

Maybe my brain is just too late.

Anyway…. in re yesterday’s Avant Gauche….

I always thought every clown wanted to have killer material.

When I was a very little kid I used to ask my Mom about “the olden days.”

I was very surprised to hear that there were cars on the street way back then, even though my grandmother never actually had one, or drove, and that they got a radio when she was in grade school.

It was sort of a let-down. I think I’d been picturing the old West, or at least, horse-drawn carriages.

So now when small children ask what it was like when I was little, I say I rode a dinosaur to school.That way they’re not disappointed by my story.Heh heh heh.

My kids asked me the same thing, and I gave pretty much the same answer. Therefore, I think he answered brilliantly! And of course, it’s never too soon to teach your kids brilliance.

@Tony Rubino No, better late than never.

An early Dennis the Menace strip had him say to his dad, “What do you mean, ‘Before we had telebision’? We’ve ALWAYS had telebision!” Nowadays they wouldn’t run it because his dad can’t remember that time. It’s like Archie’s father fulminating against the Beatles back in the Sixties. In the latest Archie strips, it’s his father’s soundtrack.

My sister once asked our dad “When you were a little boy and George Washington was president…” He told her, quire seriously, that he hadn’t come to America until after Geo. Washington had retired (he was born in Australia) and she should “go ask your mother”.

My youngest asked me how old I was, and I replied “Well, I was born in 1942. How old does that make me?”“1942?”I’m thinking, “Well, I’m old, but it’s not as bad as all that”, until she leaned over and whispered to the middle kid, “What year did Columbus discover America?”

Better than being late.

You got a couple days? Or as my therapist once said, “You can’t pick your mother” And I replied, “Yeah, that store shoulda gone out of business”
