When I was a very little kid I used to ask my Mom about âthe olden days.â
I was very surprised to hear that there were cars on the street way back then, even though my grandmother never actually had one, or drove, and that they got a radio when she was in grade school.
It was sort of a let-down. I think Iâd been picturing the old West, or at least, horse-drawn carriages.
So now when small children ask what it was like when I was little, I say I rode a dinosaur to school. That way theyâre not disappointed by my story.Heh heh heh.
My kids asked me the same thing, and I gave pretty much the same answer. Therefore, I think he answered brilliantly! And of course, itâs never too soon to teach your kids brilliance.
An early Dennis the Menace strip had him say to his dad, âWhat do you mean, âBefore we had telebisionâ? Weâve ALWAYS had telebision!â Nowadays they wouldnât run it because his dad canât remember that time. Itâs like Archieâs father fulminating against the Beatles back in the Sixties. In the latest Archie strips, itâs his fatherâs soundtrack.
My sister once asked our dad âWhen you were a little boy and George Washington was presidentâŠâ He told her, quire seriously, that he hadnât come to America until after Geo. Washington had retired (he was born in Australia) and she should âgo ask your motherâ.
My youngest asked me how old I was, and I replied âWell, I was born in 1942. How old does that make me?ââ1942?âIâm thinking, âWell, Iâm old, but itâs not as bad as all thatâ, until she leaned over and whispered to the middle kid, âWhat year did Columbus discover America?â
You got a couple days? Or as my therapist once said, âYou canât pick your motherâ And I replied, âYeah, that store shoulda gone out of businessâ

Tony⊠if you mean âtoo soon to be facetious to the kidâ âŠnever.
Start when theyâre in diapers.
If you mean ⊠hmmmâŠ.. Iâm not sure what else could have been thought to be too soon.
Maybe my brain is just too late.
AnywayâŠ. in re yesterdayâs Avant GaucheâŠ.
I always thought every clown wanted to have killer material.
