When I flew commercial I always tried to get an exit row. One of the big reasons for that choice is the seats in front of you aren’t allowed to recline for safety reasons. There is also a slightly bigger gap between the seats to allow easier access to the exit in an emergency. If I couldn’t get the exit row I would settle for a bulkhead row.
And, of course, for reasons of courtesy, I rarely recline my seat (and then only a small bit), even when I can. Lucky for me I prefer an upright posture so it doesn’t “hurt” me (like it seems to hurt so many others) to be courteous to the person behind me.
Reclining seats were ok years ago when there was adequate leg room between seats, but in today’s cramped cabins, it’s a cruel joke to even have reclining seats. Having your tray shoved in your gut when the person in front of you reclines is ridiculous.
I took a prop flight from SLO to Santa Barbara many years ago. The Pilot came on the PA and stated his name as Capt Jack S… Someone back of me yelled, " Oh no, not crazy Jack again!" I wasn’t sure that was funny or not.

It’s going to be a long flight. (For sure the longest flight I ever had was from Portland, Oregon to London, England ten years ago: 9½ hours one way.)

Have you seen the new double decker airline seats? No thanks.

Wait until the guy behind you asks you not to do that.

It’s not Spirit. Their “seats” don’t recline at all, and there is not much of a seat either!

Just remember that it’s quicker than driving. So close your eyes and pray…..

Well it’s better than reclining you seat into the person’s lap behind you.
