I once struggled several miles and 4000’ gain of elevation to summit a peak on a warmer than predicted day so that I could claim it on my peak bagger’s list. Later, I found out that I could have driven up a dirt road, parked, and hiked a couple hundred feet to the top. D’oh!
Just two months ago I rode my motorcycle up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. 6,288 feet high. Very scary ride with tight climbing turns where you couldn’t see what was around the corner. The very top was so foggy that it was hard to find the parking lot. Loved it!
Most seem to be born into the right family to get to the top. Especially, when they can afford huge endowments to the university of their choice, which assures them life long contacts with others that won the birth lottery. That would be their version the jeep to drive up the mountain. It also may explain some of the dumbing down of the world.

I’ll set y’all up to deliver the punch line. How much horse power does that Jeep have? Go!

It takes Willys to get to the top. (US military, ca. 1945)

A friend has some mountain property that we use for camping
From our campsite I can see a rock outcropping at the top of the mountain we are on
Its probably only a couple of hundred yards but its steep and littered with dead fall trees from a fire
Didn’t think I could make it but I did, twice

A bit of advice, Horace! Always respect the people on your way UP that ladder of success, because if you don’t, it’s a very bumpy ride down….

That way you can drive back home in time to go to a gym to get your exercise. What a world!

Horace is starting to seem delusional to me. His grandeur is as real as a drawing…
