Ujjwal Dey: Yeah, Christmas or New Year’s…or he’ll give Tracy the whatever-it-is by next week but the story will draaaaaaaaag on til after the Holidays, like the Haunted Mansion last year. Such is life in the DT Universe.
Tracy’s nose couldn’t be more smashed flat against his face! Still don’t like the sawed-off fingers on the petite little hands. The thumb of Diet Smith seems to be out of joint.I guess I was spoiled by Chester Gould’s version of Tracy.
Although there MAY be validity in some of your daily blathering here, folks, “the thumb in Panel 2” isn’t one of them. Why don’t you get a pet to “kick around” to relieve the inadequacies in your life, instead of poor old Tracy?
Haha, what a great idea, I will get a pet that is poorly drawn and mock THAT every day instead of DickTracy. Does anyone know which pet store sells dogs that stand up like a person, but kind of pithced forward, and have eyes that are all squinty? I’m on the case!!
So… is DickTracy all crouched down while Diet is standing up (Panel #1?)? Why can’t these guys seem to both stand up at the same time?? The world may never know. I forsee more sitting happening in tomorrow’s strip.
Tracy “I know: we’re taking up too much space”.
Tracy’s real thoughts; (“Diet you fat pig, if anyone knows about taking up too much space it’s you. What’s behind this stupid door, your own Taco Bell?”)
When did DT get a nose job? Maybe that’s what Smith means by “cutting edge stuff.” He’s referring to plastic surgery. He’s about to have 200 lbs removed, thereby taking up less space. Makes sense to me.
JFStan: Of course! That’s gotta be the surprise – “Diet Smith” is really Dick’s old enemy, Oodles, in disguise! “Haha, Tracy, you thought you killed me back in ‘55, but you were WRONG!”
Watch out DickTracy. The last time Diet said “not many visitors enter my inner sanctum”, he was talking to a case of donuts, five cheeseburgers, and an extra large bag of Cheetos. He doesn’t look like the kind of guy who fills up on cartons of milk.
Maybe you are right, Jeff K., no use prolonging the criticism of the strip. Guess it is something that we still have Tracy around. Although it pales from the original. I reiterate, that I think the idea of ressurecting the Chester Gould strips through reprints is a good idea.
Jeff K: I tried reading the strip again a year or two ago. The stories dragged on and on, the art lacked consistancy, etc., all points mentioned here in the comments section. The only reason I’m even looking at the strip again ‘is’ the comments section, which is much better then the strip itself. I vote for re runs of the old Chester Gould strips.

“Let’s do the Time Warp again” Diet. Locher is in a coma somewhere over the rainbow and the publisher has decided to rerun the strip.

Does it say “Keep out” or “Danger” on the door? Locher is the Master of Inconsistencies and Poorly Drawn Hands.
Jabba the Smith is awfully close to Tracy. He may try to eat him.
