We have to be nice to Locher, now. So here goes: the drawing is actually pretty good, and the house has finished blowing up. I mean that sincerely - thank you D.L.

Aha! The light dawns. And that is a nicely lettered CIA sign in the 3rd panel. Oh yes, the agent’s tie looks very nice, too.

It is a lovely shade of black they are using. Each of the three panels seems to be square, and the dialogue balloons are of sufficient size to encompass their words. We are again treated to the delightful sign proclaiming the location of another character. Tracys’ epiphany regarding the near destruction of a neighbors house is a important plot advancement. Perhaps he knows of a government agency that could undertake an investigation. Well the nice young men in their clean white coats are here, so I must go.

The subtle use of shadows is delightful to the eye. The eyelash in the second panel is nicely drawn.

Gotta go…the moving trucks are here. Canada, home of free speech, here I come!!! I hear Thunder Bay is lovely this time of year.

Much different comment section than usual. I’m glad I checked yesterday’s comments or I would be afraid that the world was ending. Liam, thanks for reminding people about respect.

I like how the CIA agent kind of looks like Dick Tracy with wavy hair.

This strip has gotten me so excited! Sheer genius! It’s a shame that one “pro” suddenly showed up, virtually monopolozed the day, and got the site bombed. Enjoyed it, folks. I’ll be movin’ on.

The computer will locate the bomber. No need for actual detective or investigative work. oh, wait…sorry about that.

I meant to say the CIA man is working diligently to find the bomber! Keep using your detective skills Tracy! You’ll get your man! (I think?)

Sorry, but this story is bad. I have the right to my opinion and thats it.

Other boards for TV, comics, etc allow criticism for the author as well as the story.

I don’t mean people should say nasty things about the author but to compliment/complain about only his writing/drawing.

Mike Kilian used to read and post on the boards and he took all the criticism and commented on it.

Note to MR. Tracy…A well equipped perfume lab has volatile oils, Acetone, Alcohols, and other highly flammable agents both liquid and in powder form. Nothing suddenly explodes, it takes a spark or stupidity, or a spark of stupidity to cause an explosion. Oops! Mrs. Tubbsbottl is yelling at me to lighten up…. later folks.

Ouch! (grimaces) I’m still a little sore after that spanking yesterday. I sure admire that tie in the 3rd panel.

I was just looking at my ‘Prince Valiant’ wallpaper. The detail that goes in to those illustrations is amazing. I favorited yesterday’s ‘Pibgorn’; Drusilla’s descent and costume change is stunning.

I am concerned. I have never practiced complimenting the DT strip before, I hope I don’t screw this up and get kicked off the site. Ok, here goes.

Look at how nice looking that man is in panel three. He looks so pleasant and kind. Without the thought bubble, you would not guess he is involved in the serious work of locating a bomber. He looks happy like he is reading the DT strip on Gocomics.

Kiddies, stop bickering. If you don’t like the current renderings and you like the strip itself, try the hardback compilation of Gould era dailies and Sundays. They’re up to 1939, and you’ll see nostalgia can be what it wants to be.

Tracy was worried. He wondered if Liam might find his little problem of passing wind a little too rough for the readers. He wondered what Tess thought. “Tess, I’m concerned”. Tess just stared at Dick, afraid of what would happen next. “Perfume doesn’t just suddenly explode”. The idea of an explosion caused Dick’s stomach to rumble. “Oh Oh he thought, I hope Liam didn’t hear that”. Meanwhile, the president of the Dick Tracy fan club who also moonlighted at the CIA was deep in thought. “My computer will locate the bomber”, he said while looking up the location of the nearest Taco Bell.

Peace, with only one little “Sigh”.

    Monty Python said it best:

“Once upon a time, long, long ago, there lived in a valley far, far away in the mountains, the most contented kingdom the world had ever known. It was called “Happy Valley”, and it was ruled over by a wise old king named Otto. And all his subjects flourished and were happy, and there were no discontents or grumblers, because wise king Otto had had them all put to death along with the trade union leaders many years before. And all the good happy folk of Happy Valley sang and danced all day long. And anyone who was for any reason miserable or unhappy or who had any difficult personal problems was prosecuted under the “Happiness Act.”

All I can muster is WOW.

I called MPH today to discuss The Sunday Project and he told me that WW3 went down here. I leave for a 3 week sabbatical to get some REAL work done and…WOW.

This is different. I went back through the posts over the past few weeks (what was LEFT, I’m assuming) and discovered that all of you think I’m someone I’m not, which is extremely entertaining to ME. Rest assured, in every group where I have ever posted, I use my REAL NAME, not some curtain to hide my opinions behind.

WOW. Well, I’m going back to work and won’t be passing through here for as long as I can. I thought I had left for good (once again), but after I heard about all the fireworks here recently, I couldn’t resist the visit. WOW.

Cos Grove (Groovy’s brother, missed the boat. He should co-opt that bright Dick Tracy character Lt. Teevo. Ask the nut to find the Noll. He’s already solved two murders sitting behind a desk.

bassmanbob, Don’t be hasty! Lets have no more hints about leaving. It’s not as if TMS had asked you to “retire”. We all want you to stay on and continue writing the strip. You know it gets excellent reviews. Take a hint from Locher “reconstruct your lab”. I know these “bombs” can do a lot of damage. Looking forward to tomorrows episode!

Mathew Hansel said: “If you can’t say anything nise don’t say anything at all” That’s rather dissapointing. Sounds like the ultimate slogan for “censorship”. Shades of 1984? So lets all go to Naperville and sing, “For he’s a Jolly good fellow … and so say all of us”! Like Noll’s we’ll bring the house down

Yes, the detailed artwork, break neck pacing, and intricate plotting show us all what this strip lacked for decades under that talentless hack Gould. No doubt the Smithsonian is preserving every panel for the future. Art schools will start teaching “the Locher method”. Gould’s family will be sending Mr. Locher Gould’s 2 undeserved Reubens any day now. The fact that every paper in the country carries Dick Tracy, and that it is translated into all known languages worldwide speaks for itself. Truly, this is why God gave us the internet.

“He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother”.

Wasn’t that done as an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’, with Billy Mumy playing the child?
