It’s obviously Kid Vicious’s father…who has aged considerably since the last time we saw him. If you had been reading this strip under the guidance of Mr. Locher for the last few years, you would know that it’s not unusual for characters to change their looks, hair styles, body shapes, on a whim!
You know things have hit rock bottom and Brozman totally disspirited, when even the “cross-hatching” (panel 1) appears carelessly done and fit for crumpled “scrap” in the waste basket.
Tomorrow we get our first “view” of the “PALACE” used as an Embassy by Cambastan. It’s called a palace repeatedly in the strips up ahead.
Why can’t they prduce someting that readers can come here and applaud ?
You know, I just now looked critically at the “artwork” in this strip and have come to the conclusion that my 3 year old granddaughter draws nearly as well as the “artist” in this strip. Perspective is horribly done, detail is poor, and consistency of characters is lacking. I’m not sure I’d do better, but one would expect a professional cartoonist to have at least a modicum of skills. This one draws like an 8 year old.
I mistook today’s Rex Morgan art for a mid-70s Dick Tracy strip.
Much more than this one. Rex Morgan is better drawn, plotted and produced than Dick Tracy. Wow, I just typed that…my 7 year old self is looking at 70s Rex Morgan wondering how it came to this.

If the kid whips out his makeup kit and paints himself ala “Kiss”, no one will ever notice.

Isn’t there a character named “Dick Tracy” in this strip?

Well you may be technically right in that sense. Two days ago my daughter asked me if HE was Gravel Gertie’s son.
Drawing ugly is easy, giving it personality one can admire is a task “beyond” both of them.

Panel 1: Is that one face we’re looking at? Or is it one face in profile with another fellow standing behind him?
It’s the fellow standing behind Kid Vicious who’s saying “I gotta be inconspicuous.” He’s doing it right … it’s hard to even be sure he’s there….

The strip wasn’t good enough for him.

This strip is considered high art in Cambastan. —————————————————————-
Actually, we regard it as pornography, due to the fact that the women are depicted with their hair mandibles brazenly exposed.

People are starting to notice that it’s been weeks since we saw Tracy do anything but brush off his tuxedo and check to see if he was really invited.
