Panel #3 implies that after lunch the Fifth called Fly-face and asked him to deal with Ed. Considering what an obvious crime amateur we have in Ed, this should turn into a case of the byter bit.
Real cool, Junior’s back! It’s 5:00 in the morning for me. First cup of Maxwellhouse and D.T.
Oink, you da man, and you said it best, cause there aint no reason for being a cry baby forever. About Mr. L, I sure hope that I am able to function & contribute something when in my 80’s. I would like to draw this pension thing and work on my farm for awhile too. One hundred and forty some days until September 9th.
I echo the comments about Junior, and especially appreciate the way he’s drawn to actually look like the Junior we’ve all known and loved over the years.
I also appreciate Oink’s and John Russco’s comments. Locher obviously lost his touch in later years, but at least he kept the strip alive.
Now I wish someone would do something with Alley Oop.
What a difference with the artist and story line. Dick Tracey feels like Dick Tracey again. The old characters look like they were intended to by Chester Gould. Keep it up
If I may offer support to david42. Oinks and Mr. Russco’s post. Mr. Locher did keep the character alive in these dark days of the adventure strip. Let’s be grateful for that, give him his due and now look forward each day to the new adventures of Dick Tracy.
I’m willing to bet that Mike, Joe, and even Dick himself would want us to do that.
As far as L keeping DT alive – for the last few years he very nearly destroyed the strip and made tracy a laughing stock. I’ll never give him any credit for that. he stayed too long at the fair, but it’s all working out, big time.
yay junior!
Just a “Caught you.” Patton’s 2 way is on his left arm today. It was on his right arm yesterday. Just for the record. I don’t care what arm it is on. This strip is finally in the hands of professionals! The best of it all is that they care enough about the readers to interact with them through this forum!
Actually this time I broke the law, or at least the rules.
October 31 many years ago, I came to work the graveyard shift with a big paper back. Around midnight, I pulled on an over the head rubber mask, grabbed my bag and went to each holding cell door. I opened the meal slot and yelled ‘TRICK OR TREAT!”
As the prisoners lined up, I handed out candy. All was orderly and friendly. Many of them didn’t know what officer was doing this, until one notice my Superman belt buckle, which I wear everywhere. After all they were all kids once. That Halloween they could be kids again.
The rest of the night was quiet and peaceful.
MPH I’ll do my part, hope it helps. You may want to post at comics.com . I haven’t checked, you may have already, I haven’t been on that site in awhile. I know more people comment here, but it wouldn’t hurt. GOOD LUCK!
Whew doggies, looky there
It’s that kid with the red unkempt hair
The freckled faced lad is on the case
Following the bad guys at an easy pace
Still trapped by that nogoodnik, so nefarious
Lizz’s situation is most precarious
It may even become more dismal
If techie boy picks up her signal
On their way to get “Thor’s Hammer”
A deed that will put them in the slammer
Suspense and drama fill our plate
As we await to see Lizz’s fate
So we’ll be back tomorrow
But with joy instead of sorrow
For the strip has taken a dramatic turn
And no longer makes our stomachs churn.
Thank you, VistaBill, woodworker318 and Fusnr (remember, deep breaths now)
@Brinrik, on 01-13-11 the number was 23149. With a few exceptions it has been a steady rise in numbers.
Soooo good to see the old original Junior back again and not the refigured chaacter made to look like Locher’s late son including those morbid yellow duck tributes. DT is back!
I don’t want this to turn into a flame war, in fact I criticized Mr Locher along with the rest in his last days. But I just feel like we need to let it go. We’ve got a good strip here to read, enjoy and comment on. I suggest we put the past behind us and move on.

It was April 15, 1943 when the orchestra leader and piano player 88 Keyes first made his appearance at Club Joy.
He met his end on July 11, of the same year in a railroad shed. Cause of death: Lead poisoning, dealt to him by Dick Tracy.

Junior looks like Archie from The Archies. The only thing missing is the tic tac toe board on the sides of his head!

brownceb, if that’s the worst continuity error in the strip, I can live with it.

He looks too young to have ever been married either time though. Does this mean No grandkids for Dick and Tess?
