Our one-tenth of a minute mystery. Will Annie hold out for a whole story where her little secret takes top billing ? Same Tracy time… yadda yadda yadda.
I like the fact that the writers are bringing in other comic strip characters that are no longer in circulation. I miss the Steve Roper/Mike Nomad and Brenda Starr comic strips. Annie has become a good periodic cast member also.
Annie falls silent, worried that people may start to wonder why she hasn’t aged since her strip premiered in 1924, or after James Whitcomb Riley wrote about her in 1885. Talk of the undead clearly upsets her.
I was going to wonder if that is Pouch in the background of panel 1, but scanning through the Comments I see that the question has been asked and answered repeatedly, already.
Brenda’s red hair and orangey coat, matching Annie’s red hair, and her red jacket too, are a bit of a brightness overload when all appear together. But Honeymoon raises the real Annie-angle with her simple “Annie?” follow-up (panel 3) to Brenda’s journalistic intuition (panel 2). Is this in fact just a One Day issue, as Neil seems to think, or is it the kick-off for a new arc, with more Annie, as Gweedo speculates? —I tend to lean toward the latter; the next few days should clarify which….
1-RED: You Moon Girls certainly do mature faster than Earth Girls. You look like a miniature Hope.
BLONDIE: That’s not true. I could hang out with mature looking Earth Girls my age. I just choose to hang with Annie because she makes me look better in comparison.
2-RED: That’s funny that you would say that because you two stones are killing my ability to get a man. They all think I got two kids. No man wants to sign up for that.
3-BLONDIE: I guess we could dump Annie and go out as Stretch and Shorty On The Prowl. Ok with you Annie? ANNIE: Sure. I’m used to it. Sigh
Remember the “Twilight” series of books and movies over the last 15 years? They are about a vampire and were very popular with teenage girls. Maybe Annie’s a fan.

Good morning™, journalists!
Brenda says the girls’ work helped find the killer and the girls say that Brenda’s work helped find the killer. That’s why they were in the story.
The is something that Annie hasn’t told us, which is not surprising because she hasn’t been very talkative.

Annie once again gets distracted by that question which has nagged her for her entire life;
“Why are my eyes completely white?”

Good, they’re working explanations into the story instead of leaving it for the readers to guess at.
