Riger is back (remotely). I suppose that it’s because of the cramped space available in the panel, but it doesn’t seem like Sam is looking at the drone. Something seems off. Anyway, Riger seems to have spotted something from the viewpoint of the drone. We’ll have to wait to see what.
What does Riger see that is so obvious from the air but may be a bit more obscure from a ground standing perspective ? Will we have to invoke those camera angles again ?
Sam is looking real good these days while old shovelhead is still trying to find himself.
Is that the drone’s shadow in panel 3? Or has the drone landed? It’s colored, but why did it land? If it’s a shadow, why is it colored? And the MC was doing so well recently…
So…I’m assuming that the giant cookie-looking thing is the planting bed so whatever Riger wants Tracy to see is to the left of that, off-panel, sorta like those cop cars, snicker, snicker.
Meanwhile…whlle Tracy is distracted, Sam’s thinking of hanging back and then heading back to the house for more stuff he can stick inside his coat. I think he saw some expensive artwork and a stereo he can fit in there.

Obviously the drone’s supposed to be in the air above Dick and klepto Sam but the illustration doesn’t work in panel 3. It definitely appears to be on the ground.
At least to my eyes it does.
(I apologize in advance to anyone named Kenny who is offended by my comment.Everyone else,,, Kiss My Grits!!!) LOL!
1-SAM: YIKES! The last time that thing got near me it took a bite out of the brim of my hat. Or did I just get hungry. I forget…
2-DT: Hey Mortis – this swanky neighborhood has a lot of swimming pools. Send that thing out on a Bikini Search. Send the photos to my personal email.
3-MORTIS: Hang on, Tracy. I see something that’ll crack this case wide open!
DT: What? A carton of eggs and a hammer? HA!
MORTIS: SOMEONE IS SNEAKING UP BEHIND YOU! TURN AND FIRE! TURN AND FIRE! Oh. It’s Sam. Never mind.
DT: Hey Sam – it’s your lucky day. I just realized Mortis said “turn and fire” not “burning fire”. I thought he was trying to sing a Johnny Cash song. You could a been kilt if I was able to hear over the racket that thing makes. Probably not though – I forgot my gun at home.
So everybody knows, I take writing TRACY seriously. However, at heart I’m a bit of a cheerful nut. Hence a couple of odd replies on the forum here. Not that anyone noticed, I’m sure.
Tracy’s jaw looks extra square today because his head is positioned forward, tilted at an askew angle. It’s what it’s supposed to look like. Nice job Shelley!
Again, an off-stage tipster leads us to a Reveal-next-strip (we hope). What Riger might have spotted is at this point anyone’s guess.
I get the impression that the majority of publicly available small drones nowadays sport four rotors rather than three, but the version with three seems to make a better impression as a visual in a cartoon and is probably easier to draw. Interesting POVs today: good work by Shelley. Even the Old Blockhead Detective is looking better!

Looks like quicksand. A lot of TV shows and movies used quicksand as a plot device when I was a kid.

Is Riger the modern successor to the guy who listened to all of Tracy’s wiretaps, back in the day?

Is it me or is Tracy’s face fatter in 2nd panel…even as a close up?

A real drone would not have an odd number of rotors, since the rotors need to spin in pairs in opposite directions to cancel overall momentum.
Side note to chemistry-physics geeks, this is part of the reason Fe may become magnetized, but Al may not.

That flat chin on Tracy is driving me nuts.
At least she got Sam right.
At the end of the Gould era,Sam had his nose shot off in a shootout and it had to be rebuilt with plastic surgery.
The HQ gang made sure it was redesigned the EXACT same way.(“We wanted Sam to look like Sam”)
