Really bogus planting of the wallet. As I pointed out already, a thief doesn’t keep the evidence of the wallet around for days – it is hard evidence against him. You take the cash and dump it. And why take the driver’s license? That is also pronounced hard evidence against you. Or, since we don’t know how often the poor box is checked – which probably is not every few weeks – he could have felt contrition almost immediately… But if he felt contrition why steal the cash and why dump it in the poor box? And would a guy stealing from bodies in the park be carrying pencil and paper?
While Liz needs to check the cards this should scream phony if Tracy’s brain is even in first gear. Tracy needs to be checking it out for fingerprints and comparing them with those of the corpse.
Of course, Tracy’s brain may be neutral or park since he hasn’t had to use it for awhile… In which case, why all the careful wearing of the gloves?
I’ve got my fingers crossed, hoping, and hoping I’m not hoping in vain, that we’ll actually see some real effort at forensics (besides the guy doing the autopsy – who was sharp enough to notice all the dental work was new – he provided an important clue that should have the alarms going off in Tracy’s head right now as he looks at this shoddy fraud.
And, do we ever learn if this is embezzlement, insurance fraud, or both going on in addition to the murder?
