That movie disappointed me, if only because I was expecting more whimsy.

Pan’s Labyrinth is set during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) so there are some scary things in it like murders. We are shown things from the child’s point-of-view, so she is an unreliable narrator.
On another note, I think that’s the most I’ve ever seen of Sophie’s and Doug’s Dad. Almost a whole person.
