And “Sorkh Razil” is supposed to have done all this in – what? two weeks? Anyway, never mind harassing the Taliban - convincing the farmers to switch from poppy production would be what would get “Sorkh Razil” iced in short order.

GT is mocking readers who fantasize about a “cessation of violence” in Afghanistan. Like Jeff, they’re oblivious to the violence all around them.

The only thing that keeps whimsical strips like this from being annoying or tiresome is GT’s self-mockery. When it comes to senseless violence, GT is just as clueless as the rest of us.

We all seek diversion, but GT won’t let us forget our escapism. He poisons whatever might make readers feel comfortable or make them want to tag it (iPad, arugula, yellow words).

I agree palin drome, mockery is the right response to one’s conceit.

Have you noticed that the butt ugly posters are the only ones who don’t use their real images as avatars?

Having gotten bored with his own strips over the past few weeks, GT dabbles in mirrors that reflect his helplessness: Mike Doonesbury drinking coffee with heat-packing rednecks, Zonker savoring the Good Old Days with the Tea Partiers, and now Jeff fantasizing about rescuing America’s Afghan policy.

Where are B.D. and the rest of his heroes? The only characters GT still believes in are lovers (Toggle and Alex), and he implies that lovers communicate best by not talking.
