Good grief, Charlie Brown! Is Trudeau ever booting serious backside here! Dead-enders huh? Recidivist Rumsfeld revisited! Who was it who said, “The pen is mightier than the sword”? Trudeau’s pen is awesome! Who’s next? Bush?

Didn’t Rumsfeld predict that the whole operation would only take about 6 months, tops?

    Missed it by thismuch, Rummy.

If we have really made progress in Iraq, there will be little or no retaliation against Iraqis who helped our forces help their citizens. Christians, relatively safe under Saddam, have long since left, so I guess they’re safe.

Made me smile, Fairportfan2. I haven’t heard “REMF” for awhile. They had FOBITS over there, but a mortar round don’t care what you call them.

Fobit : the one guy who’s uniforms are the cleanest while in Iraq or Afganistan :  Soldier #1 (the fobit) — “Hey there! where is your reflective belt? You need to have it on at night!”

Soldier #2 — “Shut up you damn fobit; I actually go out of the wire while you sit behind your desk all day!”

No, you’re thinking of John Ashcroft, who lost his election literally to a dead guy.

To be fair, the governor of Missouri at the time said flat out that if Carnahan “won”, he would appoint Carnahan’s widow to the seat..So technically, Ashcroft lost an election to a dead guy. In effect, however, he lost it to the grieving widow of a popular senator. I defy anyone to win an election like that.

Just when I was thinking the conservative mouthpieces were avoiding today’s strip, here they come! The majority of Democrats in the House voted against the Iraq War resolution. Of the 23 Senators who voted against the Iraq war resolution, 22 were Democrats. The Iraq War resolution was overwhelmingly supported by Republicans, with enough Democrat ‘defectors’ to pass. So, claiming the Democrats passed the resolution is a blatant lie.

All of the members of Congress who voted for the war should be turned out, but we’ll be replacing a lot more Republicans than Democrats!

I read that Camp Victory fell last week. I wonder how long it took the dead-enders to strip it clean?

Yeah, not Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft. And he WAS the incumbent U.S. Senator from Missouri running for re-election. As Robin Williams put it:

They gave the people of Missouri a choice: You can have John Ashcroft again or you can have the dead man. They said, we’ll take the dead man.

Then George W. Bush appointed Ashcroft Attorney General of the United States.
