Ray: Home? Sir, you can't send me home! Medic: Ray, you've had a lot of neurotrauma. You should've been sent home a long time ago. Ray: But I don't do well at home, sir-- this is my home! Medic: Kandahar's your home? Ray: No, war. War's my home. War is simple. I know what to do. War makes complete sense to me. Medic: And your real home? Ray: Sir, my real home is AT&T bills and couples counseling. Medic: Mine, too. But isn't that what we're fighting for?
This is how the US government chews up its soldiers by sending them to unworthy conflicts, and then spits them out after the integrity, loyalty and sanity has been sucked out of them. I had too many friends and family members destroyed and corrupted by the war in Vietnam, and now it’s happening all over again to another generation, but in 21st century ways. Will we never learn?
