Aide: Mr. President, I"m beginning to think perhaps it might be better if we were more compliant in providing materials to the House Committee... Richard Nixon: Jim! How can you suggest that?! I thought you were interested in protecting the presidency! Aide: Well, I still am, sir, but... Richard Nixon: Jim, it is not me I'm thinking of. It's a matter of setting precedent! What about future presidents?! Aide: Oh, I imagine they'll muddle through somehow, sir... Richard Nixon: Don't be cute, Jim.

If you go through all the strips that GT has done since the current occupant took office you’ll notice that surprisingly few are about him, despite the juicy cock-ups that have occurred under his watch that would have made great fodder for the strip. GT didn’t even get as far as creating an avatar for him.

I was astonished that when Nixon passed that they neglected to drive a wooden [white oak] stake through his heart! It would have stopped many things today from reoccurring.

Sounds like the current White House. Players change but things stay the same.

Nixon believed (however wrongly) that he was protecting the country. Obama only cares about defending his Obamacare legacy.

Don’t worry, we got an independent counsel so that we could never let another president engage in Nixon-style dishonesty without risk of impeachment. And it’s also good for punishing intern sexy times!

@pschearerWhat was Nixon defending the country from? Was DNC chairman, Lawrence O’Brien, a KGB spy?Did George McGovern — or any other Democrat. — have a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Nixon in 1972?What great threat existed that Nixon’s minions had to break into Democratic headquarters and install wire taps?

So now calling Obama a socialist, a Hitler, a Stalin isn’t enough? He’s a Nixon? Gasp! I can never vote for him again, then.

I’m often reminded of Nixon’s re-election campaign. Some guy got two Nixon bumper stickers, cut one into, and then posted on his bumper, " NIX ON NIXON"

I hate Reagan for opening the White House to the religious nut wing of conservatism.
