It was a zombie Duke. The storyline spun out with Zonker cashing out almost all of his remaining fortune to buy Duke out of slavery.

Is the smoking man from X-Files or is simply Duke?

Reminds me that shortly BEFORE they fled, they had a visit from Mother Theresa, who praised the Duvaliers to the sky for all the wonderful things she said they did for their people.. (Of course, they made a donation to her cause.)

That character in the back looks like the rabbit from Donnie Darko.

Seems like a few readers are seeing the art wrong. Sometimes it’s hard to put a drawing across, and be sure that everyone sees what is intended, but this one isn’t really that difficult.

It was clever of GT to weave the events of the time in with his story line. For the sake of first-time readers, I won’t give any more away.

The US relationship with duvaliers had deteriorated under carter, but The duvaliers were cozy with the Reagan administration and left Haiti on a US aircraft. In 2011 papa doc came back to Haiti and was arrested for embezzlement. He died a couple years later.

Baby Doc got into power as ruler of Haiti at the age of 19. He died in 2014 at the age of 63. Baby Doc took over for Papa Doc as he was dying, therefore he took over at the ridiculously early age.

Much like the Kim dynasty in NK, people who have never heard the word ‘no’ in their lifetimes grow up to be psychopaths, no matter their age.

Maybe because Rash Limpjaw didn’t like him. He was a Catholic priest, I believe, but Limpjaw said he took too many tranquilizers. Well, priests - and right-wing commentators — do tend to take too many pain relievers….

The US has had a long love affair with Right Wing dictators, many chosen by the US itself as rulers

Sadly, you’re absolutely correct. Which is why we are so loved in Latin America and South America !

We view the likes of Castro and Chávez with fear and loathing. We are likewise uncomfortable with the “pink tide” of elected officials like Morales, Lula da Silva, Duarte, Kirchner, and Correa with suspicion.

Most folks have forgotten the right-wing dictators that preceded them !

Many of the readers here don’t remember Batista, Somoza, Noriega, Hernández.,Rios Mont, Pinochet and many many more. Propped up by the CIA, John Foster Dulles and United Fruit ( amongst a much larger list of U.S. backers. ).

I have spent a lot of years in and out of Latin and South America and have seen first hand the result of U.S. intervention and political interference. And yes, I am currently residing In Ecuador, so I do see first hand what is going on and have a different perspective from those who rely on the U.S. media for a source of news.

    First of all, L O L !

Second, ok people, this stupid thing with too few spoilers has to stop, right? Quit keeping your mouth shut and start sharing even more info with us, ok? After all, all of us here come to satisfy our very intellectual form of masochism, that is spoilers-seeking in entertaining and elaborate storylines that can go on for months – won’t you show some respect for our needs?
