Lacey: ...and to all of you who worked so hard for this victory, my great thanks! You're all absolute dears! Kudos, too, to my trusty campaign manager, Joanie, as well as to the love of my life, husband Dick! He couldn't be here today, bit U know that this is as joyous a day for him as it is for me! Dick: Well, great. A massive coronary.

Very nice rendering of a Bachman’s warbler.

You’re wrong !
Trudeau’s satire was, and still is, well drawn,, thoughtful, and funny. I’d hardly call a Pulitzer Prize winner’s work cheap and ignorant.
Over the years he has poked fun at all both sides of the political spectrum.
And for the record, I think he got the 8warbler* spot on !

Joanie looks as haggard as her boss.

No cell phones back in 1986. And even though we have them today, lots of folks don’t have access to them for various reasons, (not keeping them charged for one reason and not doing a battery pack) so there are still a lot of story lines with emergencies out there with their story line intact.

Dick was more than likely enrolled in Medicare, which started in America in 1965

Death in comic strips was not common. Mr. Trudeau used it very effectively.

They killed off the dog in “For Better Or For Worse”. The dog!! In America, you NEVER kill off the dog! ; )
(Sorry I missed yesterday, but I have to note that GT’s sequence on the death of Andy J. Lippencott (sp?) was most memorable. The sequence of events in FBOFW on the death of Farley was equally memorable.)

Just remember that the original was in B&W, so if you’re commending the colours of the bird, it is in fact the GoComics colourist you’re complimenting.

That actually looks like a Bachman’s warbler.
