A very famous Italian poem is titled “Quiet after the tempest” (Giacomo Leopardi , 1831). In this case we could change ’after’ with ‘before’ and we’ll have what should expect BD
Posing a question here that invites speculation. Is BD glad that he is not home now, or is he angry that he is not home now? At who is he angry? Is he something other than angry?
Having not previously read the vast majority of published Doonesbury strips, I do not know what exactly happens next. I only know that ultimately we reach where the strip is NOW, and it still has all three of these characters with a preexisting presence in the strip. Only Meg is no longer seen.
So I don’t know if I even have a guess myself as to what exactly BD is thinking and feeling right now. His character has surprised me enough times that I don’t think he can be pigeonholed. At least not by me.
Hope the old political memes replace this soap opera mundacity, especially now. Sunday’s strip is a sign of Trudeau’s surviving ability. Too bad it’s only one strip per week.

And yet he somehow survived. The benefit of distance and lack of readily available guns and knives.

Hope Boopsie doesn’t have to evacuate from the Malibu fire. Not sure just which beach they live beside.
