A practical side of Zonker that we rarely see.

Most people did not realize that your birth year was printed in TWO places, not one. The second one was part of your extended draft number and was covered by cross hatchings and pretty much impossible for amateurs to change without it being obvious.

Funny that Mr. Counterculture himself would keep his draft card for sentimental value.

A generation of adults PROUD of having cheated their Country and having sent someone else to die in their place in a wrong war.About the SAME people that now boast themselves as Champions, Masters and Exporters of Democracy. Those who had no balls to resist and rebel against their own fool government when it would have been right to do so, now pay some peones or beduins to go and get killed in some faraway sand pit.I see nothing funny in today’s strip.

I suppose you can really only commit so much to a cause you really beleive in. I mean ‘give until it hurts’ doesn’t really mean actual pain or incapacity, just temporary inconvenience.

Best be careful, Zong, Trump may choose to call you up and send you to N.Korea, along with about a hundred thousand other “volunteers”, to give Kim a hug.

They had photocopiers back then? All I remember are carbon paper and Gestetner machines.

I destroyed my draft card by accidentally leaving my wallet in my pocket when my pants went through the laundry. The card was washed into two pieces, which I continued to carry around until they lost themselves.

Pretty sad to see Zonker the most successful of the group at this day and time.

At a demonstration I went to some people were burning their draft cards. Then I saw the guy next to me burning his steel workers union card. Less risky way to meet girls. I should have spoken up but it burned really well. No way of telling from the ashes.
