I’d like the next panel being Zeke and J.J. sneaking out of the hospital since they can’t possibly pay and the hospital only has the Doonesbury name. We won’t see it, but it would be fun.

Doofus Dissing Humor.

When this ran in newspapers in the 1990s my Canadian cousins did not understand why Zeke was using Mike’s name until I explained that Zeke was trying to commit fraud by using Mike’s name for insurance purposes. Poor kids did not understand that the USA did/does not have national health/single payer. Then they got all sad and were thankful they lived in a civilized country.
