I went back through a few years, they have looked very similar previously. I suppose I never noticed as they haven’t appeared together (that I recall).

Hopefully, their mother is no longer alive.

She’d die of grief over the fate of her daughters.

This is in poor taste. I thought it was only conservatives that Trudeau mercilessly mocked. I understand the urge to find the humor in personal unpleasant situations – maybe Trudeau has a relative with Alzheimer’s- but that shouldn’t become a national series of jokes.

After my Dad died @ 85, his best friend since college (Charlie) thought I was my Dad (Alzheimer’s confusion). Which wasn’t too big a leap since I look like him a lot and have a similar voice. The dementia made him unconcerned about my being 40 years younger than my Dad. It was very strange having conversations with Charlie with him thinking I was my Dad. But I and Charlie’s kids saw no reason to keep correcting him as to my real identity, since it made him happy to talk to his oldest friend. Only problem was that Charlie would bring up something they did in college or decades ago, and I didn’t know any of the details…since I wasn’t present. The guy with Alzheimer’s would be criticizing me for not remembering things.

Does anyone know if Lacey really had a sister named Pearl, and if she was still alive at this point in the strip’s continuity? (Don’t answer if that would constitute a spoiler.)

To anybody who has experienced a parent with dementia this evokes painful memories. Humorous though

Poor Alice.. I have an old Doonsbury book that shows her first appearance.. never thought it would be her as a main supporting character some day.
