Most of the “hippies” became lawyers. A plague. Hippie hippies were never hippies.

In 1967 the counterculture people of San Francisco were so fed up with the word “hippie” that they that labeling term a mock funeral.

Just like the flight directors at Mission Control swear they never wore pocket protectors… even as photos exist of them wearing them.

If you had long hair, you were a hippy. Whether you thought you were or not. Of course, most of the “hippies” turned in to Yuppies and drove beemers, sooooo. that’s a thing.

In the 60s I was a plain-clothes hippie. I had a full-time job with a social service agency that had a dress code.

I spent my grade school years in a village outside of Madison, Wisc., then my Jr High School years, 1964-1967, in Berkeley, CA.!!! For high school, we moved to Wheaton, Ill., land of far right “Christians”. There, I was was labeled a hippy commie druggy whoore. Only the Hippy label was anywhere close to being true. I was OK with that.
