As bob said, just go back & get the other. He’s going to drink it anyway. Having been a cashier, it’s tough as we don’t make the rules or set the prices.
So, have the cashier ring up one more. Pay for it so you don’t slow down the line, Leave all your stuff at the front of the store and go back for the fifth bottle. Better yet, ask customer service to bring you one.
When it is packaged food or drink – those buy 5 to get the best price deals aren’t so bad. What I hate is when the sale is on perishables, like bagged salads, all of them dated to expire in two days. (It might be a deal if I had a pet rabbit. I don’t.)

That’s how both Tom Thumb and Kroger do things these days. Very irritating.

My husband hates this. Stores ought to realize when you tick off your customers with idiot stuff like this they may decide to shop elsewhere.

Just hold up the check out line while you go back for a fifth soda.

How much do they charge for the magnifying glass?

That is an extremely dishonest sales tactic.

Who pays $2.49 for a liter of soda? Get 5 for $4.40, or better yet stop drinking soda.

A big soda company (name starts with a C) has reduced the size of its bottles. Price stays the same. Same kind of ‘deal’.

I’m not able to view all the comments, don’t know why. Does anyone else have this problem? It’s been like this for about a week now.
