Did you see the segment on AFV tonight where a guy is telling alexa to turn off the lights and a guy in the next room keeps yelling at her to turn them back on! Would have been funnier if she blew up.

Here in the South Carolina low country, we still do.

I thought you played video games on a “Switch”. ;-D

I have her turn them off as I pass each area. It’s helpful when the lamp or switch isn’t right by the door or your hands are full. I also like having a group when the group goes on (as when I get home) & I turn them off as I need. I don’t know why she would do them all after she’s in bed.

I just can’t see the point in these stupid smart speakers or digital assistants. An internet-connected computer that listens 24/7; what could go wrong? And, as this strip illustrates, the benefits are so utterly marginal as to be non-existent.

Alexa, butt the hell out.

At least we got her off the Clapper.

Zero interest. Living in a tri-level, turning lights on and off constitute exercise.

I have one plug-in smart light switch. But only because it was free.

Read the directions online and set each light to go off on a schedule. You can over ride it if you vary your routine but people don’t usually vary that much. Then as you lay down you can just turn off the bedroom light. The other way is to make a group, go to bed and then turn off the entire group. Yes, directions for Alexa really do help.

I don’t have one of those. Can’t you just say “Alexa, turn off all the lights”?

In the old days we used the bedroom light to find out who was the boss; while you were turning off the light you’d look back and the one still in bed was the boss…
