An experiment I’ve not seen tried That “poor Linda” here now has supplied: Since mutation is fast How long can it last After host-brain has technically died? There is another way to read events What if our Flask was playing with her mind? And didn’t breach the suit? I offer since The “break her further” game is just her kind If this is true, tomorrow should reveal That Flask’s annoyed by Wally’s mercy kill: Because he didn’t know the captain’s deal He killed her prey who still had facts to spill Of course we think that Philomena’s act Seemed focused most on some bizarre revenge Her leadership is poor, and that’s a fact And team as well as audience must cringe =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Is he doing a head shot to kill her or a head shot to make her unconscious? The first shot was in the chest and stunned the body; but not the mind. Maybe this shot stunned the mind and put her in an altered state like Connor.
The Endtown mini-comic that I produced for Comicpalooza 2011 is now available to YOU for the offensively low price of $2.50 (price includes s&h, international add $1 for each copy ordered ). Besides sporting a snazzy full color cover, it contains an all-new 22 page story that is available nowhere else. And just because I feel like doing it, I’ll sign and personalize (if desired) each and every copy I mail out. Simply pay via PayPal using my email address, aaronneathery@gmail.com, and be sure to include your mailing address. If you can’t pay with PayPal, send payment to:Aaron NeatheryPO Box 920558Houston, TX 77292And, just so you know, I’m completely open to donations. The cat and mouse that live in my head will thank you. :-)
When Albert breached a Topsider’s suit, the change was almost instantaneous. I think Linda was imagining it. Flask clearly didn’t expect or want Wally to have the guts to kill Linda, as it appears he did. They’re going to have a nice talk about mixed signals.
Given the Wally/Holly conversation with Conner that set all this up I would vote for the stun scenario. Wally’s not a killer, except when absolutely necessary. I would say he feels that alive and anthro is better than dead, and he’s quick thinking enough to recognize that is at least a possibility here.
Not dead, stunned again. When they die, they go to powder. Linda won’t be a monster, she’ll be an andro….because she was unconscious/unknowing when changed. Wally did the meaner, but safer thing. They’d have to fight a monster. As an andro Linda will have to face being what she hates. I’m sure Wally did what he thought was the kinder thing. . .Linda being unconscious during the change, so she couldn’t feel it any longer. Welcome to the world of the Endtowners Linda! Of course, it could be that Linda only thinks she can feel it. She may just have worked herself into a frenzy over her impending fate.
I didn’t see him fiddle with the settings on his gun, so my bet is that it is still set on stun. The transformation might not be as severe since she is unconscious.
It could be that the suit only had a tiny hole in it so the infection progressed slower – or Flask could just be messing with the girl’s head and let her work herself up into a frenzy.I also love the “wut?” expression on Flask’s face in the last panel. She looks so shocked. Could it be that she, in her moment of sadism, kind of forgot they were there? Or did she just not expect them to interfere?
I’ve looked at all the comments just for fun: That Wally hadn’t time to change his gun; That weapon-beam continued on its run; That Wally’s not the killing-focused one; That “Linda-blown-to-powder” wasn’t done… The evidence presented here has won: So I’d agree: The weapon’s set to stun =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
While I agree that Wally’s gun was set to stun, remember that the Endtown weapons are not zero guns. In the few gun battles so far (ie intro of Wally) the topsiders weren’t reduced to dust when they were shot. The guns can be set to kill or stun, but they are not as “clean” as the topsider weapons. Probably why Flask prefers her own zero gun; leaves less mess behind.
It’s also interesting to me to see Wally make his second precision shot here (the first being the fancy “over the back” movie stunt shot that got Linda in the first place). Just what is it from Wally’s background that makes a pacifist such a “deadly” shot with a gun?
And now we see the roles reversed, with Wally as the one who is helping the suffering(if it can be called helping), whether or not he actually killed Linda.

…so Flask might not have pulled the plug..and wally hopefully..only stunned her…but who knows!?!…

Aaron, you are truely the master of “I did not see THAT comming!” That is a big part of what makes this strip fascinating. Kudos, man!

Good move Wally. It was the only humane thing to do.

You’re right. They’re both messing with her head.

AUGH, Jenner, that was horrid (giggle) Yeah, Wally’s gun is still on stun, I think. He’s had enough. Flask’s glare in panel 4… her looks CAN kill.
OdderOtter about 13 years ago
I am guessing/voting that Wally did not reset the gun, and it is still on stun, Wally is that way.
josh_bisbee about 13 years ago
Even Flask is surprised.

…sure becoming an android is disquieting, but as we see in our heroes, doable. Why would Wally kill her? I sometimes forget how who turns

Turns into what(thank you, fellow commentors :-) Linda still can live a good life….

question, was it a stun or kill beam?

I agree Linda was imagining the mutation. Flask probably used some slight of hand, made her think the suit was breeched.

Oh Lord…Look at Holly’s expressions in panel # 1 and # 3. She is horrified. Aaron, great job today—-Holly’s face really tells the story.

I am also surprised, in the manner of watching a movie character shoot 7 times, that the gun has not needed a crank recharge.

what’s going to stop Linda from killing herself given the first opportunity? Or for that matter her former allies from killing her on sight?
I am, of course, assuming that Flask actually tore her suit, and it’s not just a massive bluff on her part to screw with Linda’s perception.
