They have now come out with clear ones so the hearing impaired are still able to read lips while others are masked.

Yeah, even before we had to wear masks, I found I had to put my glasses on to understand what anyone was saying. :o) I know that if I have to take my glasses off to do something and then put them back on when someone is talking to me, it is time to get new glasses! UNfortunately, that time is NOW. Sigh.

Yes, first I stood close enough that I could hear. When people started backing away because I was invading their space, I went to lip reading. Now, I can’t get close enough to hear anything and lip reading isn’t an option. My closest human contact in six months has been closed captioning.

I hear ya. Kinda garbled, but I know you’re speaking. I’ll just listen for my name.

Exactly my problem. It’s so much harder to understand others when I can’t see their lips to fill in the parts I’m not hearing. Mine’s a 50% loss right in the middle of human speech. If I can’t see your face or you’re turned away from me, you might as well not say anything at all. I’m not going to hear you well enough to know what was said. Guess everyone will have to learn to talk louder and enunciate clearly. No more sloppy talking.

The man is 100 years old; why does he need a mask especially when it’s just him and his wife.
