Dude, you’re lucky that’s all you got. My husband would have been sleeping on the porch if he said something like that to me!

To quote Greg Cravens from yesterdays “The Buckets”,“Sarcasm is a guy’s first thought, but it should have been his last resort.”

I would have soooo smacked my hubby if he said that. LOL. John deserved that pillow in the face, and a smack, too!

Err Ladies, What would you have said by reply if your significant other, hubby etc had asked you the same question that Elly asked? Hmmm. And would you have expected to be sleeping in the lounge, on the porch, or wherever? And please don’t tell me that you can’t be just as sarcastic as John……..You just don’t appreciate the return of serve, unless you are doing the returning of serve that is.

What he said was very telling about his sometimes feelings.

I sent this one to my wife. She’ll think it’s funny. Of course, we get along pretty well and we’re both pretty secure about the relationship. Um, if you’d like an example, google my site, The Writing Rag, and look up the post titled “pillow talk.”

Elly should have said no. But of course we all know that in the end it was real life John that left.

When given a straight-line, use it – out of respect for comics everywhere, if no other reason.

This is the sort of thing my late husband came up with occasionally. I really appreciate quick wit, even at my expense, and so I probably would have laughed first, before i started asking why he said such a mean thing.

I’ll say John’s life would be more exciting if Elly moved out. He’d have to take care of the kids and house as well as his regular job. Considering he tried that (and failed miserably) for a short time when Elly was out of town, he should know what he would be in for.

What ever happened to the good old days when someone could make an off the wall remark, everyone would have a muffled laugh and go on with their lives. There was an incident in an advice column about a month ago where a joking off the wall remark resulted in a divorce and all the in-laws turning against him.And wives complain that their husbands won’t talk to them. Why should we want to if we have to weigh every word?

Elly should be used to John’s dry wit by now.

He can’t- following the time line, he has yet to buy his first piece of track. And model railroaders prefer to refer to it as a “hobby” or “avocation”, rather than a “fetish”, thank you.

There’s an old saying about how behind every “joke” there’s a kernel of truth. If this is how John really feels about his wife, it just makes me wonder why he’s even with her. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t want to have to cook his own meals, wash his own clothes, clean his own house or take care of his own kids??? Like I said . . . just wondering!

bluskies: I have seen it said that with a day of training, model railroaders could run the nation’s railroads (keeping the same train and yard crews). I mentioned that once, and the reaction was that we should let them try and we’d get better service.

@redarmrest – you know, I just don’t get it. How can you throw a guy out of his own bed? OK, you are mad and want to punish him by withholding sex, whatever, and don’t want to sleep with him in the same bed. Well then shouldn’t YOU be the one to sleep somewhere else?
