Yep! And watching the women in those classes was, uh, er, well interesting.

It’s like seeing a car accident; you just can’t look away.

Good thing we’re not expected to take them seriously; since neither is drawn “fat”, seems their being overweight is all in their minds.

..as the cookie crumbs dribble from her overstuffed mouth, she is shocked at such a suggestion that she is flabbo

I think Connie is ‘overdoing it’ with the ‘Flabbo’ comment(for what reason I don’t know except to play on Elly’s idea of herself). The ‘Beginning’ class would be better for Elly—it would help her self-esteem.

I resolve to at least get into healthier habits: move around more often, don’t snack on quite so much sugar and junk food, etc.

As one who is chronically underweight, I can tell you that one can be thin and flabby.

Every time I pass by the Golds Gym here in town I try and look the other way as not to see all those sweaty people in there through the front window !

Isn’t “Basic” how the military trains new recruits? That’s pretty low-impact, isn’t it?

So Elly roars at John for making a joke about wiring her jaws, but Connie makes a flabbo crack and Elly takes it in stride?

Things like this are different between men and women. Another woman going through the same thing you are when it comes to weight issues and believes the same thing about herself as you do about yourself is a comfort (maybe even funny in a warped kind of way) . . . what’s not comforting (or funny in ANY kind of way!) is the very idea that your husband ALSO thinks you’re just as fat and unattractive as you do!!!!! That’s when a woman’s self-esteem can really plummet, leading to other insecurity issues as well. If a man really, truly loves his wife, why can’t he just tell her every day, in every way, how beautiful she is . . . how sexy she is . . . how much he loves her . . . and lucky he is to have her in his life? Why does that have to be so incredibly difficult for husbands to do?!?!? Thankfully I have a husband that still says those kind of things to me even after 24 years of marriage and I hope he always will. I only wish all other wives could be just as lucky where their husbands are concerned as I am with mine!!!
