Poor John…it really Isn’t funny what happened to him…something the neighborhood will Never forget as long as they…and the Pattersons…live in the same place… ;)

This is a Canadian strip. 1) Shouldn’t be “neighbourhood”? 2) Almost reminding me of Canadian band Glass Tiger song “Someday” (someday you’ll be shedding your tears to cry [tears of laughter] over me, someday I’ll be losing this fear).

One of my favorite quotes: “If it is going to be funny later it might as well be funny now.”

This is best shared before an actual moment when it is appropriate, or in John’s case, a bit later.

    YOU are forewarned.

The cop should have told Anne what great friends she has. Friends who to put themselves in this situation for the comfort of her child because in her neglect and hurry to get away she did not porovide ALL of the things her son would need to be comfortable and less of a challage to the people you are imposeing upon.

I feel sorry for John…he didn’t want to get caught up in the whole situation but Elly persists him to go ahead and do it. The kid could’ve used the Pattersons’ potty and if it was really important, than Annie should’ve brought it over when she randomly asked Elly to babysit her boys. And why was she gone for that long anyway, why did she come back with her husband? Were they arguing about how spoil Richard’s going to be? I sure hope Annie doesn’t ask Elly and John to babysit again…I don’t see how Richard will survive another day without his special potty

Sisterdame, you try having to sit, handcuffed in a police car on the side of road while everyone drives by and sees you. Especially when all that has happened is that your auto insurance(in another state had lapsed), no real crime and see how you like it.

Your last word has me laughing more than at any of the comics I’ve seen today.

Jeeze, people – It’s a comic strip, not the police blotter. Lighten up, or switch to reading Dick Tracy.

In my opinion, Elle is way out of line laughing. She was the cause of the whole thing. She would be door slamming mad if it were reversed.

Technically, he wasn’t “arrested.” He was detained. Arrest, at least in the US, means taken to the station and booked.

Lynn’s note about the genesis of today’s punch line had me in stitches…what a great practical joke to play, and great fodder for gossip for the whole neighbourhood. It makes me think of the line that has something to do with appearance and reality.

If that happened to my husband I wouldn’t laugh at him. He sat in a police car, against his will, while the neighbors watched and talked about him. Elly is cruel to her husband.Does he ever treat her this bad?
