Actually I thought Ellie was being rather mean and rude. Also notice the Revlon and Coty signs. This strip is so old that that was allowed.

Now don’t you feel guilty Ellie. Some clerks may be nervous and need to stay calm so they can think. Count your blessings Ellie another clerk would of robbed you. This one has character/

I don’t think this comic is fair. The clerk was incompetent & deserved to be made fun of. Ellie did nothing wrong so there is no reason for her to be given some sort of karmic lesson at the end.

@rowena28 yes she does deserve a Karma lesson. It is one thing to think the clerk is incompetent and something totally different to be catty and talk to a stranger about it.

@Jean and fbjsr, I agree completely. The least gifted among us need our patience more than the most gifted do. I have never met anybody who was fated to an easy life.

I thought the punch line was going to be something like…..the lady customer says to Elly, “She’s my mother”, or something similar like that.

Was two months an honest figure or was Ellie being snarky? This time of year I wouldn’t be surprised to be served by a clerk who had only worked there two weeks

I still write checks. After having both debit and credit cards hacked, I feel safer using checks in stores. (I am a Target and Home Depot shopper)

I tend to get impatient with incompetence but if the clerk tells me she is new on the job, she would have all my sympathy. Communication is everything.

Rather have a scatter brain clerk who is trying than a mean one.
