Can’t see the bottom panels (still loading, as I type this), but I imagine the rest of the family has thoughtfully gone out to eat so that Elly can concentrate on her work. (Hopefully, they left her a note.)
In order to make a punchline that is how she worked it. Ironic and that poor Elly didn’t have any brought home to her. But since it isn’t real we can be sadistic and laugh with no harm done.-————This is another true situation. There were times when I was so engrossed in writing or drawing the strip that I was oblivious to everything else around me. My kids could talk to me, ask for things, say stuff that didn’t make sense, and I’d simply nod and smile. An entire day could go by and I’d forget to eat or even get up and walk around. It was like being in a sound sleep. There were times when people would have to distract me from my work, look me in the eye, make sure I was absolutely focused on them, and then say what they wanted me to hear!
He was only half considerate. How is it he didn’t even think to bring her back something? If my husband did something like this he knows he’d be in deep trouble!
Over and over people nitpick this strip only to discover that Lynn intended to make fun of herself—something none of the nitpickers never guess. Give it a rest, folks. See what she has to say herself, and then add your comments. You don’t have to wait for Night-Gaunt49 to post them here: read her comments on her own website: http://www.fborfw.com/
Reminds me of when the kids were younger. Yell dinner in on the table. and all vanish, including husband… those were the good old days now only hubby cant be found at dinner time

Alot of restaurants back then wouldn’t let you order something boxed up to take home. I’m not sure if Canadian restaurants do that even now.

Why is she using a typewriter instead of a computer? And last week, her daughter wanted to wear nylons. Is there a reason they’re living in the ’50s?
