The state is making heap big wampum on taxes. If only other places were inclined to burn the money. I like that the uptight factor over something so trivial has been taken out !

Well there you get, truthful. He didn’t have to tell , but he did it anyway.

My mother used to give one beater to one kid, the second beater to another kid, another kid got the spatula, and another kid got the bowl.

What? Nobody has mentioned that it has eggs in it and you can’t eat raw cookie or cake dough anymore?Just for the record, I do not go along with that school of thought. I’m 75 and still “lick the bowl”.

Somehow this reminds me of what Jack London said “To give a dog a bone is not charity. Charity is to give the dog a meal when you yourself are hungry”. Point being, giving away something you hate, such as clothes you have gotten too fat for or a can of lima beans that is on the cusp of expiration, is not charity. That is disposing of unwanted things. Sponsoring a child with a monthly check, rather than blowing the money on beer or wine, is charity.

USN1977. That’s a pretty narrow definition of charity you’ve got there fella! True charity is born in the heart and spirit of a human,and is not measured in dollars and cents.Ive sponsored children through world vision in the past,but I’ve also unloaded that unwanted can of Lima beans to the local food bank ( along with jars of peanut butter and other items I would happily eat ) .When I retired I gave 3 pair of used work boots to a local men’s shelter since I wouldn’t be needing them anymore.You would have me throwing them out,and buying 3 new pair to give to the shelter? There’s nothing wrong with giving unwanted items to charity in my books,it’s better than throwing it away.

Gweedo. Yeah,I knew from a previous post that you had given up the high life. I gave up drink and combustibles a few decades ago in favor of living past 50,but I don’t begrudge others from indulging now and then.

Charity? Perhaps you should google moral hazard before you wax poetic about charity.

Most comics, Sundays is not part of any general story and many times they color their own that day.

I understand that you were quoting Jack London, but I would respectfully disagree. Giving away your unwanted things is a lot more charitable than tossing it in the landfill.

No joke! They still use honey as an antibiotic because the sugar content is too high for bacteria to grow in it!

JastMe. Your points are well taken. I might add that I wash the cloths I’ve grown too "expansive"to wear before I take them to the mission.
